"I had no idea that he was retaining anything that I was trying to teach him."
I’m Jessie and I have 3 kids. My oldest is the reason I joined Calm the Chaos. I noticed when my husband was on deployment my son developed high anxiety and anger. I didn't know what to do or where to turn to. I kept getting turned different ways. I didn't feel like anybody knew what we needed.
It wasn't until six months ago, that I started feeling like we were onto something with Calm the Chaos but there were even days that I didn't feel like it was working because my son’s just so on the go he can't stop and think.
It wasn’t until three weeks ago when the psychiatrist said “Your kid has ODD, ADHD and severe separation anxiety and my jaw just dropped. I didn’t want to put him on medication because of all the side effects I was in such a spot that I felt that I needed the help. He needed the help. And I just didn't know what else to do.
18 hours after starting medication, he was a different kid. We went to a friend's house and he instead of throwing a fit or hurting somebody or yelling and screaming and throwing things around, he stopped. Physically stopped. He stopped, took a breath and said “I can see that you are wanting to play your way. Can we play your way for 10 minutes? And then we make a plan to play mine the way?” I would expect that out of an adult. I had no idea that he was retaining anything that I was trying to teach him from Calm the Chaos. It was amazing. And I realized that we were missing the medication tool in our toolbox.
I think that this is such a wonderful program. Calm the Chaos is the way to go. And it's been so helpful to me and my family.
